29 March - Houston

Hey fam!
This week has been good. The new cool thing that happened this week was we got to go to the Houston Temple this week as a mission! wooo. All 150 of us missionaries got to go. It was funny we were taking out mission picture with 75 of the missionaries and there was a wedding going on. The groomsman came over and asked if after we were done with our pictures if he and his bride could take a picture with us. President said it was ok and so after the picture the bride and groom came in the middle of everyone. So, we were taking pictures and the picture guy said ok everyone look at the bride and groom. so we looked and all of the sudden they kissed! and everyone was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOO hahahahaa it was funny! It is a pretty cool looking temple and it was nice to go to the temple.

The other elders in my district had 2 baptisms, so our district is doing very well this transfer with 4 total baptisms. I am already a third of the way done with my mission meaning that I am a third of the way fluent in spanish and a third of the way "trunky" hahah the other day a member asked me how long I had been out and I told him 8 months and he freaked out because he thought I had been out for over a year hahaha. It was so funny. He was like No CREO NO CREO hahahahah.

I like this place more than Galveston, the city ROCKS WOOO. They got cool live bands at restaurants and the other day the little kids were dancing in front of the band hahaha

Besides that things are great! The other Elders in our district had 2 baptisms this week so things are going very well for our district. I am excited to be a missionary and I like it out here.
We have been running out of miles this week (on their weekly allowance of miles for the car) so we have had to go out on the bikes again! yay! The bikes are fun I think we are going to go out on them more next month!

Well have a good week everyone!

22 March - Houston

What up my fam!

This week was awesome! Benjamen was confirmed a member of the church this Sunday and we had another baptism! It was Maria and it was awesome! She is super tight and it was a awesome baptism! I sang a song with Brother Romero and then we helped her into the water and she was baptized. It was a very neat experience and probably one that I will never forget.

Things are great here and I love it! Elder Greenwood and I are getting along great and the members here are great. I don't really know what to say besides everything here is good!

Umm, this weekend we are hoping for two of our friends Brayan and Elizabeth to be baptized also. We will see how that goes. Also the other Elders in our district are going to be baptizing two kids so it will be a neat baptism of four kids on Sunday!

Love y'all!

15 March - Houston

Hey family and friends!

Things here are great. We had a baptism on Sunday! It was great! our buddy Benjamen was baptized. His mom is a member of the church and he has been going to church a lot. The funny thing was we thought he was already a member of the church, but then last week bishop told us that he wanted to be baptized next Sunday; so, we had to go and teach him the lessons this week. He is an awesome guy!

Next week we have 4 baptism lined up. A family from Cuba and our friend Maria! They are all ready and excited! Elder Greenwood and I are really being blessed by being obedient and keeping all the rules. Other than that, this week I am celebrating my birthday at a cool member's home. I will soon no longer be a teenager haha.

I want to give a special shout out to my buddy Austin M.! Congrats on you mission call to Roseville California that it awesome!

Well that's what has been going on here. I love it out here and the Spanish is coming along great!
Peace and love,

Elder Johnson

Houston - Feb 8, 2010

Hey y'all!

This week has been good. We have been working hard and nothing is really new. We had transfer calls today and Elder Greenwood and I will be in the city for another 6 weeks together. It is going to be good!

It is pretty funny, the people here think I am 23 or 24. When I tell them that I am 19 they freak out haha. Well next week I won't be a teenager anymore, pretty weird!

My trainer Elder Roberts is going home today he has been a missionary for 2 years and 1 month. It is pretty crazy to see him go home. He says that it is going to be weird. I don't really know what to say for this week. So, I love ya and keep on keeping on everyone!

1 March, 2010 - Houston

Hey family and friends!

Y'all are great. This week was a good week. We were supposed to have a baptism this week, but Maria got really sick and she has been in the hospital for 3 days. Keep her in your prayers please! We visited her yesterday and brought some members. It was nice to see her and the members of the church help each other and grow closer.

We had a special treat this week. A General Authority came to visit us this week. His name is Elder Zwick and he is awesome! We all got to go and shake his hand and talk to him real quick and when I shook his hand he told me how Johnson is a good name and the his wife was a Johnson. It was pretty cool.

He gave an awesome talk and he talked about having a pure heart and asked us como esta su corazon. So I am going to ask y'all. How is your heart? It was interesting. He talked about having a pure heart. I want to study more about it though. So that what I will probably study for a while. He also talked to us about the earthquake in Chile. He told us that all the church buildings there are still standing, and also that none of the missionaries were hurt. And that the members are all ok. That is pretty amazing. I heard that that was a really big earthquake.

Also, on Sunday it was stake conference, all the Spanish members from a few wards came to meet and it was awesome! President Saylin and Elder Zwick spoke and man they are so awesome! They make you feel really good. They are the kind of people were you just want to be with them all the time like a best friend. It is totally because they are obedient to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are obedient to the commandments and you can just see the difference in their lives. They are awesome!

You are all awesome and thanks for everything!
